The endorsement by the European Commission of the Amendments to IFRS 4 Insurance Contracts – deferral of IFRS 9 is now reflected in the Endorsement Status Report.
The European Union has published a Commission Regulation endorsing the Amendments to IFRS 4 Insurance Contracts – deferral of IFRS 9 ('the Amendments'). The Amendments are effective for annual periods beginning on or after 1 January 2021.
The Amendments extend the expiry date of the temporary exemption from applying IFRS 9 from 1 January 2021 to 1 January 2023 to align the effective dates of IFRS 9 Financial Instruments with IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts.
