Robert Adamczyk
Robert is a Polish national with over 25 years of environmental and social risk assessment in Europe and near neighbourhood.
He is a member of the supervisory board of the Polish Responsible Businesses Form (po. FOB) promoting sustainable development and finance in Poland and active member of PolSIF and Polish Chamber of Commerce ESG Committee. Robert is head of the Energy Sector Team at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Environment and Sustainability Department. As part of the Bank’s mandate, Robert is involved in project appraisals inclusive of ESIA and E&S due diligence of, among others, power and heavy industrial sectors. He has a broad sector experience and use of different financial instruments to supporting sustainable project.
On behalf of the EBRD, Robert is a sherpa at the EC Platform for Sustainable Finance since 2021. He has helped to develop the 2021 Warsaw Stocks Exchange ESG disclosure and reporting guidelines and similar ESG disclosure guidance in Czech Republic and Romania. He has worked on developing the Responsible Steel standard and with the WBC SCI (Sustainable Cement Initiative) on guidance for ESIA and biodiversity management plans.
Prior to joining the EBRD in 2004, he was a Director and Head of the Environment Division of Atkins Europe based in Poland. Robert is a member of the United Nations Convention on Migratory Species Energy Task Force (UN CMS EFT) – among others developing post-monitoring guidance for the wind sector jointly with IFC and KfW. He has been elected and served as chairperson of the EBRD Staff/Works Council for 8 years until 2021 championing best social practices and ensuring staff rights are adhered to.
Robert holds a degree from Kings College London and an MSc from Imperial College London (Environmental Technology).
