Piotr Biernacki has 20+ years of experience in capital markets, sustainability management, ESG reporting and compliance. He is President of the Foundation for Reporting Standards and Vice President of the Polish Association of Listed Companies. Since 2019 he is also member of the ESMA Securities and Markets Stakeholders Group. In 2019-2020 Piotr was member of the EFRAG PTF on Climate-Related Reporting.
Piotr initiated creation of the Non-Financial Information Standard, a reporting framework applied by companies disclosing non-financial statements according to the 2014/95/EU Directive. The standard has become the most commonly used framework in Poland for reporting non-financial information, chosen by the largest group of companies obliged to disclose annual non-financial reports. His analytical works include i.a. the first full database of non-financial reports disclosed in an EU member state and creation of MARopedia, the only existing online encyclopaedia covering the Market Abuse Regulation. He is also author of CCA, Climate Crisis Awareness study, which assesses annually performance of Polish public companies in mitigation of climate change. He has also initiated several studies of companies concerning i.a. compliance with human rights, usage of fuels and energy and depth of corporate growth strategies.
Piotr is a public speaker at ca. 40 conferences and congresses every year, covering such topics as non-financial reporting, sustainable finance and disclosure of inside information. In his advisory activities at MATERIALITY he has helped several companies to assess materiality of non-financial issues and to identify non-financial risks using his Materiality Assessment Matrix methodology, assess climate-related risks and opportunities, develop sustainability strategies and monitor ESG data.
