Laura Girella
Dr. Laura Girella holds a PhD in Accounting and Business Economics with the University of Ferrara (Italy) (2013). Since 2014, she is a staff member at the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) as “Region Lead for Italy”. From 2017, she also joined the IIRC’s Guidance, Research and Training Team as “Technical and Research Manager”. Since 2017, she is responsible for the <IR> Examples Database, and is contributing to the Report Critique Project and the core technical projects of the IIRC, including the <IR> Framework revision process. In such capacity, she has also been assigned the task to review integrated reports published by organisations with the aim to recognise leading international examples and areas of improvement. She is also in charge of the <IR> Academic Database and Network.
She has presented as a speaker or keynote speaker in professional and policy conferences (PIOB, 2018; EFAA, 2018; WICI, 2015; 2017, 2019; University of São Paulo International Accountancy Conference, 2019; Italian OIBR Foundation, 2019; EAA, 2021). She has published academic articles in national and international scholarly journals on corporate reporting subjects, as well as a book with Routledge on reporting boundaries. Since February 2019, she is a member of the Stakeholder Reporting Committee of the European Accounting Association. From November 2019, she has also been appointed a Tenured Researcher in Business Economics at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy).
